Job DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION Senior AccountantJOB SUMMARY
Leads the implementation of accounting and financial management
processes for a mid-sized department/agency or specialized
accounting functional/technical area. Performs professional
accounting duties that contribute to the fiscal and financial
management of a large work unit in a centralized accounting
operation. JOB-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES* Knowledge of governmental
accounting and auditing principles, practices, procedures, methods,
and theory. * Knowledge of computerized accounting systems
including automated accounting systems and their applications. *
Knowledge of the specific accounting and reporting requirements and
the complete accounting cycle of the organization. * Knowledge of
budgetary procedures and controls. * Knowledge of supervisory
principles, practices, and procedures. * Knowledge of applicable
laws, policies, rules, etc. related to financial services
operations. * Knowledge of personal computers using word
processing, spreadsheet, database, and accounting software. *
Ability to schedule, assign, monitor, review, and evaluate the work
of assigned subordinates. * Ability to analyze and audit
accounting, fiscal, and payroll data, reports, and statements. *
Ability to prepare accounting and audit records, statements, and
reports. * Ability to develop computer-based spreadsheets, graphs,
summaries, and reports. * Ability to collect, organize and evaluate
data and develop logical conclusions. IDEAL CANDIDATE The Ideal
Candidate will: * Possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting,
Finance, or related * Possess three (3+) years of professional
accounting experience. * Have a minimum of two (2) years of proven
supervisory or managerial experience and can guide assigned
accounts payable (AP) staff; review staff work for accuracy for 20
employees. * Have experience with and overseeing invoice
processing, payments, and all accounts * Ensure proper pre-audit of
all expenditures and audit for compliance with statutes, laws, and
policies. * Have the ability to develop weekly, monthly, and annual
reports for senior management and external parties MINIMUM
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A Bachelor's degree in
Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems,
or business-related field and three (3) years of experience as a
professional accountant. Or An equivalent combination of education,
training, and experience would reasonably be expected to provide
