Job Description Job Description JOB posting JOB TITLE: Service Writer DEPARTMENT: Service REPORTS TO: S ervice Manager POSITION PURPOSE: The Service Writer plays a crucial role by effectively scheduling technician workloads and accurately documenting and translating customer concerns into technician-friendly terms. The Service Writer manages service write-ups, warranty processing, and tool checkouts. With a strong emphasis on outstanding customer service and maintaining a professional company image, the Service Writer must possess relevant knowledge of the industry to ensure efficiency and satisfaction in every service interaction. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Diagnose issues and provide services by listening to customer's description of problems; clarifying their concerns and conducting inspections; taking test drives; checking boat maintenance records; examining service schedules. Verify warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers, explaining provisions and exclusions. Develop estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor, calculating customer's payment, including deductibles. Other duties as assigned by management EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree preferred Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, department and corporate goals Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external customers Proficient in Microsoft Office products WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to independently lift, carry, push, and pull up to thirty (30) pounds Must be able to swim or be willing to wear a personal flotation device in instances of emergency Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally Must be able to work flexible hours based on the needs of the property to include weekends and holidays as needed.
