Description:SUMMARY Under the direct supervision and guidance of
the Senior Executive Director of Professional Leadership and
Student Programs, establishes, implements, manages professional
leadership and development programs as assigned. The incumbent is
also in charge of developing a network of collaborating
organizations such as advisory boards, alumni association and
chapters, executive search firms, and faculty and mentors for the
programs.

- Master's degree from an accredited college or university is
required, PhD preferred.
- Must have four to ten years related experience and/or training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in higher education issues required.
- Experience Pre-K-12 leadership strongly preferred.
- Teacher state certification (Any subject and level from PreK
through 12th grade) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize projects in a
fast-paced environment; ability to work with significant deadline
pressure and deal gracefully with researchers and other staff as
deadlines approach.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including a
strong comfort level with public speaking and excellent
presentation skills. Must be able to effectively engage individuals
and groups from diverse backgrounds in a manner that is consistent
with HACU's culture, mission, and objectives.
- Experience with budget management and financial oversight.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the
ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously within
deadlines and high attention to detail.
- Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to remain
composed under pressure and meet challenges with resourcefulness
and provide alternative solutions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works collaboratively and strategically in a team environment
with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative
staff to ensure the fulfillment of HACU's mission, goals, and
objectives.
- Coordinate HACU's efforts in designing, developing the
curriculum for, and implementing professional leadership and
development programs to prepare leaders at HSIs and other education
institutions.
- In collaboration with HACU's Assistant Vice President of
Advancement and Marketing and Executive Director of Development to
establish/execute partnerships with foundations and organizations
to develop scholarship opportunities to support professional
leadership and development programs.
- Coordinate with various constituencies to be involved in
professional leadership programs planning and execution: CEOs,
board members, and staff; past and present MSI leaders; advisory
boards, comprised of representatives from various collaborating
organizations, including senior administrators at HSIs; alumni
association and chapters, executive search firms, and other
organizations involved in higher and PreK-12 educational
sectors.
- Work with HACU member institutions in securing their commitment
to support one or more participant in each of the professional
leadership and development programs on an annual basis.
- Coordinate recruitment and selection process for each
professional leadership and development program, along with faculty
and mentors as needed.
- In coordination with the Senior Executive Director of
Professional Leadership and Student Programs develop and oversee
professional leadership and development program budgets.
- Explore and coordinate with other HACU staff and supporters in
seeking funds to strengthen and expand professional leadership
programs.
- The responsibilities listed are not exhaustive and may evolve;
additional duties may be assigned based on departmental needs to
support overall objectives.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESCarries out supervisory
responsibilities for all assigned personnel in accordance with the
organization's policies and applicable federal and state laws.
Responsibilities would include interviewing, hiring, and training
employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising
performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing
complaints and resolving problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The employee will typically work a standard of 40 hours a week;
however, longer hours may be necessary at times. This position is
an exempt position and not eligible for overtime pay.
- Working conditions are in an office environment with long
periods of sitting, occasional standing, walking, or moving between
workstations.
- Occasionally, the employee may need to lift items (files or
paperwork) weighing up to 15 pounds.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity
machinery.
- Moderate noise levels typical of an office.
- Regular interaction via phone, email, and in-person.
- Typical office lighting and ventilation conditions.
- Maintains and ensures security of HACU-issued equipment,
software, data, and supplies.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Travel is required at 5% to conferences and other workshops as
needed.
