Today! Job Summary and Qualifications Responsible for gathering
diagnostic information through the use of radioactive materials
administered intravenously; sophisticated radiation detecting,
processing and imaging equipment and providing radioactive
materials for use by physicians. This position works closely with
other healthcare team members to facilitate exceptional patient
care and efficient completion of diagnostic studies and procedures
while also promoting optimal unit operations. Responsibilities of
the Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Perform Nuclear Medicine exams
in a timely manner, document required information, and communicate
to primary physician and direct care staff pertinent information. -
Coordinate and assist the care of patients assigned in
collaboration with other technologists, physicians, nurses and
allied health staff. - Evaluate patient condition in order to
adequately perform radiology exams. - Inform and explain procedure
to be performed to patients and what is expected in terms of
his/her cooperation. - Provide comprehensive direct patient care
and assure a safe and comforting environment. - Consult with other
staff as necessary to meet the needs of the patient and family. -
Assure that the necessary clinical equipment and supplies are
available and are safely utilized. Perform Point of Care procedures
in a timely manner according to established policy and procedure. -
Document required information and comply with all Point of Care
quality control standards. Qualifications for the Nuclear Medicine
Technologist EDUCATION: - Associate Degree - Graduate from an
approved Joint Review Committee on Education Program in Nuclear
Medicine Technology program or equivalent. NMTCB and/or ARRT (N)
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: - Certified as a Medical Radiologic
Technologist by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) - Certified by the
Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (CNMT) or
Certified in nuclear medicine by the American Registry of
Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (N) - Basic Cardiac Life Support
must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date - Advanced
Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment
