POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Human Resources Generalist is a strategic and
operational HR leader responsible for managing full-cycle HR
functions across all departments, with a focus on legal compliance,
employee relations, performance management, and onboarding
excellence. Reporting to the Director of HR & Administration, this
role oversees complex HR deliverables and acts as a trusted advisor
to leadership, while mentoring generalist-level staff and ensuring
audit-ready documentation. The Sr. HR Generalist leads process
improvement efforts across Spectrum, JotForm, and other platforms,
aligning HR initiatives with company values, safety protocols, and
EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) priorities.
YOUR ROLE
--- Leads full-cycle HR execution including recruiting, onboarding,
employee relations, terminations, and compliance documentation.
--- Applies advanced knowledge of employment laws (ADA, FMLA,
COBRA, EEO) to investigations, corrective actions, and company
policy enforcement.
--- Oversees HRIS data accuracy in Spectrum and supports compliance
reporting for audits, payroll, benefits, and legal
documentation.
--- Manages unemployment responses, claim documentation, and
hearing preparation.
--- Leads coaching conversations with managers on evaluations,
corrective action, PIPs, and policy interpretation.
--- Serves as the primary HR point of contact for Superintendents,
Foremen, and department heads during hiring, onboarding, and
employee relations events.
--- Conducts and documents high-level investigations; ensures
follow-through and risk mitigation across sensitive HR cases.
--- Designs and delivers training sessions for onboarding, policy
education, and legal compliance.
--- Leads HR's role in safety-related onboarding including drug
testing, orientation, and proper documentation.
--- Coordinates with Safety on incident follow-ups and ensures HR's
involvement in cross-functional investigations.
--- Maintains logs and audit readiness for onboarding documents,
safety acknowledgments, and drug testing compliance.
--- Manages HR-controlled materials and inventory (uniforms, boots,
PPE, swag) and tracks distribution using JotForm, Excel, and
Spectrum.
--- Supports vendor coordination and budget tracking for onboarding
kits, apparel, and HR-related materials.
--- Maintains and updates HR Scorecard metrics, accountability
charts, and department org structures.
--- Prepares reports and contributes to EOS meetings, compliance
presentations, and strategic HR planning.
--- Advises leadership on high-risk ER cases, documentation
standards, and separation strategies.
--- Mentors HR Generalist 1 and 2 roles, ensuring process
consistency, technical accuracy, and development planning.
--- Partners with the Talent Development function to align
performance feedback with internal training and development
initiatives.
--- Facilitates quarterly HR audits to ensure documentation and
compliance across divisions meet legal and company standards.
--- Drives consistent, service-oriented HR support across all
departments and represents HR as a proactive and trusted business
partner.
WHAT YOU BRING
--- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration,
or related field required; Master's preferred.
--- 5-7 years of progressive HR experience required, preferably in
a construction, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
--- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
--- PHR or SPHR certification required.
--- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws including
FMLA, ADA, COBRA, and EEO compliance.
--- Advanced experience with HRIS platforms (preferably Spectrum),
onboarding workflows (JotForm), and digital documentation.
--- Demonstrated success managing employee relations
investigations, coaching leaders, and handling sensitive HR
matters.
--- Experience leading HR trainings for managers and hourly
employees.
--- Strong analytical, documentation, and time management
skills.
--- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability
to influence and build trust across all levels of the
organization.
--- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a
fast-paced, service-driven environment.
--- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, exercise sound
judgment, and promote HR best practices with professionalism.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The Sr. HR Generalist in the civil construction industry must be
able to navigate various job sites requiring moderate physical
activity, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs. This
role may involve occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to
25 pounds. The position also demands prolonged periods of sitting
while conducting office tasks, as well as the ability to visually
assess work environments and interact with personnel in various
locations. Strong communication skills are essential for conducting
meetings and training sessions on-site, necessitating mobility and
the ability to engage with diverse teams effectively. Familiarity
with construction sites and adherence to safety protocols are also
required.
