Only 1 in 8 Austin students graduate collegeready. Changing this statistic is part of the promise IDEA makes to current and incoming students. Our goal is to add 16 more schools over the next 4 years, including IDEA's first health professions school, in support of our mission of college for all, positioning us to serve approximately 13,000 students by 2022.Role Mission:Social Workers workdirectly with our at-risk scholars to ensure that they graduate from IDEA and go to and through college byprovidingthem individualized emotional, behavioral and mental health support. The goal is to work witha large group ofat-risk scholars and have them independently master coping skills to address and overcome mental, behavioral, and academic challenges.Responsibilities:Schedule individualized andreoccurringsessions to address mental health needsEstablishindividualized counseling goals for scholarsUseknowledge and understanding of the reciprocal influences of home, school, and community to intervene for scholar success via such practices as assessment, crisis intervention, home visits, conflict resolution, individual and group counseling, consultation,program development, dropout prevention and coordination ofschool and community servicesInformLead Team every time there isa potential persistence concernCommunicatewith family to figure out root cause and develop solutions to address concernsCollaboratewith lead team to create a joyful, respectful school culture wherescholars want to come to schoolAssist with campus joy factor, events and celebrationsCollaborates with teachers of concern to develop a plan to address failing grades concerns.Communicates with families regarding weekly progress as needed.We look for Team and Family who embody the following values and characteristics:Believes and is committed to our mission and being an agent of change: that all studentsare capable of gettingto and through collegeHas demonstrated effective outcomes and results, and wants to be held accountable for themHas a propensity for action, willing to make mistakes by doing in order to learn and improvequicklyWorks with urgency and purpose to drive student outcomesThrives in an entrepreneurial, high-growth environment; is comfortable with ambiguity and changeSeeks and responds well to feedback, which is shared often and freely across all levels of the organizationWorks through silos and forges strong cross-departmental relationships in order to achieve outcomesWe believe in education as a profession and hold ourselves to high level of conduct, professionalism and behaviors as models for our colleagues and students.Responsibilities:Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respect for the communities in which they identify.Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, parent meetings, parent information sessions, before and after-school duties, and school wide meetings and functionsEngage in summer and year-long district, school and personal learning and developmentMinimum of 40+ hours spent at school per weekQualifications:Education: Master's degree requiredExperience: Teaching experience preferred; Ability to write and speak Spanish preferredLicensure: Social work license required (LMSW or LCSW)Knowledge and Skills:Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environmentAbility to build solid student and family relationshipsCompensation:Salaries for this role typically fall between$50,004and $59,794commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications.This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
