Kalahari Resort & Convention Center Pool Cleaner Job Description Job Title: Pool Cleaner Department: Waterpark Reports To: Waterpark Maintenance Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary Cleans Pools and Spas in Waterpark by performing the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Prior to waterpark opening: -Vacuum all pools and spa's- pools and spa's should be free of sand, garbage, and any other debris. The small, portable vacuum is to be used for spot cleaning and areas that are difficult for the other vacuum heads to reach. Sand and debris may need to be swept to a deeper or more accessible area to be vacuumed. Sand and debris piles should not be swept into main drains unless necessary -Scrub all pool tiles- all scum lines, dirt and garbage should be cleaned off with Pool Cleaner and a scrub pad before the waterpark opens -Skimmer lids and Skimmer housings need scrubbed and cleaned. Skimmer baskets need to be cleared of debris. -Inspect all areas and equipment in all pools and spas and fill out inspection form of inspection. Handrails, steps, the pool curb, the pool surface, skimmer equipment, drain grates, weir grates all need to be inspected. -Fill pools to proper water level if needed- water level should be halfway up the skimmer -Remove stains from pool floors- rust, algae, and all stains should be scrubbed with a wire brush. Tough stains will need to be scheduled for removal the next time the pool can be drained. Be sure to notify your supervisor of any stains that cannot be removed prior to opening -Remove calcium build-up on attractions- areas where calcium build-up occurs should be scrubbed/ scraped to remove calcium and should be re-painted if necessary. Report any areas that require further cleaning or need to be painted to your supervisor -Remove scum lines from starting tubs, runouts, slides, pool walls and inside skimmers- Use power blue and a scrub pad to remove all marks from slide and pool surfaces -Replace any missing/ broken weir doors, jet eyeballs, skimmer baskets, skimmer covers, float valves, buoys/ stoppers, floor returns, basketball nets, lilly pads, and drain grates. Report any parts/ supply needs to your supervisor. -Inflate tubes inside lilly pads if needed -Change feature pump strainer baskets -Clean all tools and equipment used and then put them away -Report all tasks that cannot be completed to your supervisor After waterpark is open: -Change circulation pump strainer baskets Clean dirty strainer baskets using wire brushes and place a clean basket next to each pump to prepare for the following morning Clean wire brushes and clean up any mess made while changing and cleaning baskets Competencies To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Works well in group problem solving situations.
