Technical Program Management Consultant


  • This Product Group (PG) Program Management position is in the OEM PG organization and is unique from other PG PM roles in that this role will work directly with sales and customers to define the scope, schedule, and cost of custom solutions. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to drive internal teams while balancing the interests of Dell Technologies with those of external parties.
  • Typical responsibilities include:
  • Demonstrate business curiosity; understanding why the business is engaged with a given account
  • Serve as primary PG point of contact with the customer to negotiate the Statement of Work associated with the program - scope, schedule, cost, risks
  • Display technical curiosity; understanding what problem a customer is trying to solve, the solution Dell is delivering, and how the solution could be leveraged for other potential customers
  • Through clear objectives, lead cross functional core teams, kick off programs, establish schedules, and facilitates meetings
  • With the Project Manager, define and manage the extended development team scope and schedule having an end-to-end mindset with regards to full implementation and not just development
  • Inspire the cross functional core teams to perform and fulfill to commitments
  • Analyze and report actual performance vs. program goals
  • Establish clear objectives and deliverables for the program that support the LOBs business
  • Adhere to Offer Lifecycle Process (OLP) - schedule and run all applicable phase reviews and program reviews
  • Track progress, report status and make necessary corrections to achieve program goals
  • Manage major risks and issues through effective contingency plans and proper escalation


  • Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of product development program management experience (or Master's degree and 3-5 years of experience)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Prior experience working with global development organizations
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong initiative and ability to work in a self-directed environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple, complex projects concurrently
  • Ability to present clear and concise information to team, internal customers, and external customers
  • Experience in program management including planning and senior management interface
  • Ability to build effective teams
