Job Description:
Title:
Refrigeration Technician
The technician's responsibilities include monitoring and servicing
systems, diagnosing problems and troubleshooting equipment, running
tests and completing reports, updating and improving existing
systems, and repairing or replacing faulty equipment.
Essential Functions:

-Understand completely all policies, procedures, standards,
specifications, guidelines, safety and training programs of
Kalahari Resorts
-Perform repair work on all HVAC related equipment such as boilers,
chillers, PTAC's, RTU's, etc.
-Schedule and perform basic preventative maintenance work on HVAC
units: change filters, clean coils, replace motors, etc.
-Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working
condition through personal inspection and by following the
manufacturer's preventative maintenance programs
-Maintain repair and preventative maintenance records
-Actively participate in energy conservation programs
-Assist in special projects when requested
-Recommend appropriate materials, equipment, and fixtures based on
budget, location, and intended uses
-Write reports documenting problems and summary of actions
taken
-Follow health and safety standards and comply with building
codes
-Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and
municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety, labor, and
building code requirements in the performance of their work. This
includes assisting the Facility Manager with ensuring compliance is
maintained with required routine inspections and preventative
maintenance procedures related to this trade.
-Collaborate with contractors and other outside vendors in
installing and repairing systems
Competencies
-5+ years of experience performing work in this specific trade
-In-depth knowledge of maintaining and repairing HVAC systems
-Experience servicing large refrigeration systems (such as
commercial freezers and coolers) and/or kitchen equipment is a
plus, but not required
-Past experience using Automated Logic software is preferred, but
not required. Training will be provided
-Good verbal communication skills.
-Ability to read technical documents and drawings
-Understanding of the current codes and regulations within the
trade
-Good interpersonal communication skills
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Aptitude in using appropriate tools of the trade
-Ability to work with little supervision while staying productive
and maintaining strong ethical standards consistent with company
policies and rules while making independent decisions.
-Knowledge of work safety and OSHA regulations.
-Ability to maintain confidential information.
-Ability to work on scaffolding, ladders etc. as required.
-Ability to lift 50+ plus pounds
-Conscientious with great attention to detail
-Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of
action quickly and accurately
-Must be able to work well in stressful, high pressure situations,
including ability to handle guest objections and disputes to
satisfactory results.
-Must be able to adapt to a broad range of customer interactions,
inquiries, and complaints.

None
Work Environment
This job operates in an active and public environment. The
associate must exhibit patience and good interpersonal skills when
working in the presence of guests, fellow Associates, and outside
vendors. The Associate must maintain good personal hygiene.
The Associate must be comfortable occasionally working in a
hot/humid environment when work inside the indoor waterpark is
required.
Physical Demands
The Associate is required to constantly stand, walk, climb,
balance, kneel, stoop and crouch. The Associate must frequently
lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move
up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The
Associate be able to work on ladders, scaffolding, and/or lifts to
reach high ceilings or walls. The Associate will frequently be
required to reach and grasp to perform these duties. Excellent
dexterity is required.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, with the potential for various work
hours and days, based on business needs. Position is expected to be
primarily Monday thru Friday during regular business hours,
although some evenings, weekends, and/or holiday hours may be
required depending on business needs.
Education, Experience and Licensing
High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
5+ years of experience working in the HVAC trade
Valid US Drivers License
