Senior Staff Electrical Engineer - Austin, TX Job Summary The
Senior Staff Electrical Engineer, Design Hardware Development will
be in Austin, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing
team, work with fellow innovation engineers around the country, and
support cutting edge system design and engineering projects.
Working alongside other design engineering team members, you will
be responsible for requirements gathering, electrical engineering
design, simulation, component selection, and test through the
product design cycle from ideation and feasibility to factory
introduction and product launch. We are looking for someone who
demonstrates:

What a typical day looks like:
- Participate in team-oriented ideation, concept design
collaboration
- Research, design and develop electronic products, sub
systems
- Component selection. Analog and digital design and
simulation.
- Evaluate products, parts and processes for cost efficiency and
reliability
- Drive electronic design from requirement capture through to
project completion
- Embedded design. Schematic capture. Layout planning.
- Design, prototype, design verification test and
troubleshooting.
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or
equivalent
- Minimum of 8 years of design engineering experience
- Strong FPGA design experience in either VHDL or
Verilog
- Strong experience with embedded system development,
microcontrollers, analog/digital circuit design, schematic capture
(OrCAD, Altium), simulation tools (SPICE, CST, MATLAB, Hyperlinx,
etc.), and component selection.
- Understanding of EMI/EMC principles and design
- Adept at making technical recommendations consistent with
desired product performance while balancing customer requests and
project requirements
- Proficiency in DC Power Management and distribution,
lithium-ion battery chargers.
- Experience with various digital interfaces (I2C, SPI, USB, CAN,
HDMI, DDR3/4, etc.)
- Accustomed to reviewing PCB layout, gerbers, transmission lines
and DFM.
- Experience with test equipment (Oscilloscope, Spectrum
Analyzers, meters, etc.)
- Demonstrate efficient quality-oriented techniques and
practices
- Strong verbal and technical writing skills
- Strong analytical thinking skills
Here are a few of our preferred experiences:
- Experience with wireless product design (Bluetooth, LoRa, WiFi,
etc.)
- Experience with wearable products, sensors, and feedback
methods
- Familiarity with various battery technologies, charging
schemes.
- Familiarity with FPGA, Hardware Description Languages
(HDL)
- Familiarity with various displays, tactile interfaces.
- Experience with audio devices, speakers, microphones.
